A
growing family wishes to renovate and add on to their 1950’s era ranch house
while incorporating sustainable design principals important in their lives.
The design renovates the existing bedroom spaces into living spaces opening
to a recently renovated pool, while the addition houses a new formal entry,
garage, bedrooms and a second floor master suite.
The addition is constructed of high R wall and roof structural insulated panels (SIP’s) with high efficiency windows and heating and cooling systems, composite roof shingles, and low emitting materials and finishes. In addition, the design makes provisions to add a photovoltaic system in the future.
