Washington Square Residence
Renovations
Philadelphia, PA
Construction complete 1999
This
existing fourth floor, two-bedroom condo overlooks Washington Square in downtown
Philadelphia and offers sweeping views of the city. Prior to the current
owner, the apartment was offered as a rental unit and subsequently incorporated
the use of inexpensive kitchen and bathroom cabinets and fixtures.
In addition, the layout of definitive functional spaces restricted the views of the city as well as the admittance of natural light. To liberate the space, the walls of the existing kitchen were modified to redefine the sitting area, dining area and kitchen itself through the placement of a custom bar, new surface treatments and lighting.
New custom kitchen cabinets and fixtures also were installed, as well as new materials and fixtures in the bathrooms, to brighten a previously very dark, unattractive space. Design, general construction and fabrication of bar, bar stools and bathroom vanity completed by principals of SGA.
