This
project involves the renovation and modernization of a 100 year old residence
located within the historical borough of West Chester. The design strives
to accentuate various materials and details while incorporating sustainable
design principals. The exterior renovations attempt to work within the context
of the neighboring properties whereas the interior opens up to form more
modern, free flowing spaces.
The project includes many Energy Star rated improvements – including radiant floor heating, high efficiency boiler, appliances and lighting – increased thermal envelope, high efficiency window replacements, passive ventilation, water efficient fixtures, on-site rain water collection and low emitting materials and finishes. In addition, the design makes provisions to add a photovoltaic system in the future.
