Hayshire Elementary School
Additions and Renovations
Manchester Township, PA
Construction complete August 2006
The existing Hayshire Elementary School is a 50,000 SF facility built in
the 1950’s. A main goal of the project includes unifying three later generations
of additions into a cohesive design. Additionally, the entire facility is
rearranged programmatically and renovated, and approximately 30,000 SF is
added.
Other goals of the project include maintaining an existing community play area and reusing existing portions of the building in new ways. The educational design focuses on the school within a school concept and places a media center at the core.
The facility design utilizes sustainable design techniques and materials; however, the School District elected not to pursue LEED certification.
