Graphic Design Office
Fit–out
West Chester, PA
Construction complete 1998
The owners of this graphic design firm, a husband/wife team, decied to convert the basement of their existing home into office space after growing out of their previous office. The existing basement actually is two distinct spaces separated by a mechanical equipment cluster and chimney. One of the two spaces was formerly the garage; the opening for which provides ample southern exposure along with an entrance to the office independent from the home.
The design evolved from the interjection of three walls, both new and existing, used in defining the programs of the office. The public front room contains the entry (penetration wall), conference area and main programming/editing workstations (assemblage wall) and the private rear room contains secondary workstations and a secluded meeting and video viewing space (gauging wall).
Design, furniture/workstations design and fabrication, and general construction was completed by principals of SGA.
